UPB Summer Camps Kick Off on June 24th

By: Dylan Tehada

With summer just around the corner, we are excited to announce our upcoming summer camps! Each camp will feature a different focus for young hoopers to expand their knowledge of the game while also honing their physical in game skills. The summer camps will kick off with a first through fifth grade camp from June 24th to June 27th.

Coach Hannah will be leading these summer camps and seeks to hone in on specific facets of the game through various themes in addition to implementing drills and in game situations for campers. These themes will vary throughout the summer and hone basic basketball IQ skills to help athletes make the jump to higher levels of competitive hoops.

That is why for Week 1 of Summer Camps, our theme will be: Agility, Footwork, Coordination. We will focus on equipping athletes with proper footwork and agility techniques to establish a strong foundation of coordination to excel in higher competitive levels of basketball. Coach Hannah recognizes the importance of equipping athletes with a strong foundation when it comes to footwork and agility at a young age and seeks to instill good habits that enable hoopers to excel in basketball.

“We're going to be adding [this theme because] I think that this stuff is important for this age specifically. It builds that foundation to be an athlete and it helps them overall even if they're playing other sports,” Johnson said.

Athletes in this camp will be looking to establish good habits that will allow them to excel in the middle school level. The transition to middle school basketball is a big jump and Coach Hannah seeks to help young hoopers separate themselves through sound coordination and refined footwork as they continue to grow their basketball skills.

We are excited to see the next generation of Bay Area hoopers show out at our upcoming summer camps and are looking forward to the new focuses and themes Coach Hannah will feature in each of the camps!
