UPBasketball’s New Training Facility Update

February 24, 2023

Unlimited Potential Basketball’s training facility is currently in the works of moving to a new location on Rollins Rd to continue to serve our amazing and supportive community. We are extremely excited because our new facility has been making great progress to be opened this Spring, and we cannot wait to welcome our dedicated athletes to the new spot!

Before UPBasketball was at 1881 Rollins Rd, it was home to Nothing But Hoops, a community staple. When that business left the location, there was a void that needed to be filled. That was when Packie and Bianca Turner’s friends, the Braccia and Ferrari Families, told the Turners about the opportunity of moving the UPBasketball business to Burlingame in that facility.

“We wouldn't be where we are without the Braccia and Ferrari [families’] belief and support to begin this venture on the Peninsula,” Coach Packie said.

(1. Coach Packie and Aidan Braccia. Coach Packie and Braccia started training together when Braccia was in 6th grade. Now, Braccia is a freshman playing for the Belmont University Men’s Basketball Team. 2. Coach Packie and Frankie Ferrari. Coach Packie and Ferrari started training when Ferrari played for the University of San Francisco. Now, Ferrari plays professionally overseas in Spain.)

Coach Packie had been training athletes in the East Bay since 2012, but UPBasketball had only been in business for one year at that point before moving locations. When classes first started at the new location in Burlingame, there were only three athletes in the sessions, and the Turners and the rest of the UPB Team made it a point to invest in their athletes and build strong relationships with them.

“We have made it our life mission to help children learn the values of hard work and leadership through sports. We want nothing more than to continue to grow our roots here in this community,” Packie and Bianca Turner.

The warehouse that we are currently building started out as just walls, a cement floor and a leaky roof. Now we have brand new hardwood floors that were recently put in place, along with a new roof, reinforced walls, and an updated bathroom. We are going from having eight hoops to eleven so that we can house many more athletes in our training sessions, clinics and upcoming camps. We are excited to officially open in April of 2023.

“I’m so excited for our community to see the new gym. It’s been a very long and complicated process, but I’m proud of what we have accomplished so far,” Bianca said. “I am grateful we get to stay on Rollins Rd. As a small business, staying in our community was the top priority. It’s going to be beautiful and I can’t wait to show everyone!”

As we are continuing to build out the warehouse for our new facility, we are running a fundraiser that can go towards making the facility the best it can be for our athletes. We appreciate all donations, big or small, as anything will help with this project. We thank you in advance for your consideration to donate and for your generosity. We can not wait to see everything come together!

UPBasketball’s fundraiser will be ending on March 25th. You can click here to learn more about the fundraiser and you can click here to donate!
